DC Announces Extension Deadline for 2023 Tax Forms
Paper Forms Delayed, Electronic Filing Available
The District of Columbia (DC) Office of Tax and Revenue has announced production delays for paper forms for the 2023 Individual Income Tax (D-40) and Corporate Income Tax returns.
Key Dates and Deadlines
Due to the delays, taxpayers who need to file paper forms must file Form D-40 Extension by April 15th to receive an automatic six-month extension until October 15th. This extension must be filed before applying for any additional extensions.
Electronic filing is available through the MyTaxDCgov online portal starting January 29th, 2024, for the 2023 tax year.
Filing Options
DC taxpayers have the option to file their returns electronically or by mail. Paper forms are available at DC Public Libraries and other designated locations.
- Paper Forms: File by April 15th or file Form D-40 Extension by April 15th to extend the deadline to October 15th.
- Electronic Filing: File through MyTaxDCgov starting January 29th, 2024.
